How to Change Your Password from Your Windows 10 Lock Screen

If you’ve forgotten your password or simply want to change it, Windows 10 allows you to reset it directly from the lock screen. Follow these steps to regain access to your account quickly.

Step 1: Reach the Windows 10 Lock Screen

  • Turn on your computer and wait for the lock screen to appear.
  • If your computer is already running, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Lock.
  • Click anywhere on the screen or press any key to access the sign-in screen.
  • Select the correct user account from the list if multiple accounts exist.

Step 2: Connect to the Internet (If Required)

  • Click the Internet icon in the bottom-right corner of the sign-in screen.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi if it’s disabled and select your network.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted, then click Connect.

Step 3: Reset or Change Your Password

  • Click Sign-In Options.
  • Select the password or PIN icon.
  • Click Forgot My Password or Forgot My PIN.
  • Enter your Microsoft account email or phone number for verification.
  • Retrieve the security code from your email or phone and enter it.
  • Create a new password and confirm it.
  • Click Next to save changes.
  • Sign in using your new password.
