If your Windows 11 taskbar is not responding, freezing, or missing, follow these troubleshooting steps to restore its functionality.
Why Does the Taskbar Stop Working?
The taskbar may stop responding due to corrupted system files, outdated drivers, or issues with Windows Explorer.
Solution 1: Restart Windows Explorer
Restarting Windows Explorer can refresh the taskbar:
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
to open Task Manager. - Find Windows Explorer in the Processes tab.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
Solution 2: Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM
Corrupted system files can cause the taskbar to malfunction. Use these commands to repair them:

and select Terminal (Admin). - Run the following commands one by one:
