Android

If your Android phone is not recognized by your PC when connected via USB, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Solution 1: Change USB Connection Mode

By default, Android devices may only charge when connected to a PC.

  1. Connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access notifications.
  3. Tap on USB for Charging or USB Preferences.
  4. Select File Transfer (MTP) or PTP mode.

Solution 2: Try a Different USB Cable or Port

A faulty cable or port can prevent your PC from detecting the device.

  1. Use an original or high-quality USB cable.
  2. Try connecting to a different USB port on your PC.
  3. Test with another PC to rule out hardware issues.

Solution 3: Enable USB Debugging

USB Debugging allows better communication between your Android device and PC.

  1. Go to Settings → About Phone.
  2. Tap Build Number seven times to enable Developer Mode.
  3. Go back to Settings → Developer Options.
  4. Enable USB Debugging and reconnect your device.

Solution 4: Update or Reinstall Android USB Drivers

Outdated or missing drivers may prevent your phone from being recognized.

  1. Connect your phone to the PC.
  2. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  3. Expand Portable Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
  4. Right-click your device and select Update Driver.
  5. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Solution 5: Install Android File Transfer (For Mac Users)

If you’re using a Mac, install Android File Transfer to access files.

Solution 6: Restart Both Devices

A simple restart may fix temporary connection issues.

  1. Disconnect your phone from the PC.
  2. Restart both your phone and computer.
