If your Android phone is not recognized by your PC when connected via USB, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Solution 1: Change USB Connection Mode
By default, Android devices may only charge when connected to a PC.
- Connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to access notifications.
- Tap on USB for Charging or USB Preferences.
- Select File Transfer (MTP) or PTP mode.
Solution 2: Try a Different USB Cable or Port
A faulty cable or port can prevent your PC from detecting the device.
- Use an original or high-quality USB cable.
- Try connecting to a different USB port on your PC.
- Test with another PC to rule out hardware issues.
Solution 3: Enable USB Debugging
USB Debugging allows better communication between your Android device and PC.
- Go to Settings → About Phone.
- Tap Build Number seven times to enable Developer Mode.
- Go back to Settings → Developer Options.
- Enable USB Debugging and reconnect your device.
Solution 4: Update or Reinstall Android USB Drivers
Outdated or missing drivers may prevent your phone from being recognized.
- Connect your phone to the PC.
- Press
Windows + X

- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Solution 5: Install Android File Transfer (For Mac Users)
If you’re using a Mac, install Android File Transfer to access files.
Solution 6: Restart Both Devices
A simple restart may fix temporary connection issues.
- Disconnect your phone from the PC.
- Restart both your phone and computer.
- Reconnect the device and check if it is recognized.
